In 2011, we decided to go into major research about why majority of our people in the grassroots refuse to take the community development association (C.D.A) and its lawfully positioned activities seriously. The result of that research is quite revealing as factors militating against the advancement of the CDA is being discovered. One of such factor is lack of an operational / permanent office for the CDA to operate as the “No 4” tier of government.

 

It was discovered that people want to see structure, registered office, where they can easily go to lodge their complains at a given time and also have their meeting (AGM and others) as and when due. It was also revealed that a lot of people still see the CDA as “street meetings” of landlords/landladies where meetings are being held in the frontage of an individual member who might incidentally feels aggrieved about the CDA or another member or members as the case may be, then he would now ask the CDA to go away. We have experienced this lot in our community. By this reason and other reasons that can’t be mentioned for now, we put our heads together as Exco and a parcel of land was purchased against all odds at a cost of N750,000 in 2013. Though, a small parcel of land (92x30ft) the proximity of it left us with no other options.

 

To the glory of God, the proposed plan was drawn by the secretary of the CDA who is a qualified Architect, also double as the project Assistant. On the 22nd day of march 2014, the foundation laying stone was performed by the CDC chairman Alh Lukman Shonibare, Ikorodu LGA and the HOD, Agric. Bola Onigbanjo, Ikorodu LGA along with our amiable chairman, Pastor Taiwo A. Kayode and all Exco members. The photographs, proposed plan and video CD is thereby attached.

This monumental and remarkable project of history is a storey building of about 250-300 people sitting capacity with the main hall on the ground floor and the first floor oversees the high table stage, the ground floor also consist of a general office , male and female toilets (2T), decked water reservoir point.

 

The first floor houses the chairman’s office and the secretary office. The general office at the ground floor will be classified as a business centre where the treasurer, financial secretary and other Exco members can conduct the business of the CDA particularly in the area of finance, where our people /members can come at a given time to pay their dues.

Computers, photocopy machines and other office equipment shall be provided to ensure smooth operations at all times particularly data capturing system.

 

The chairman and that of the secretary’s offices shall also be adequately equipped to take the CDA government activities to a dignify level. This is our commitment and Goal that we all have to achieve.

The roof is going to be a first grade Aluminum coated (4mm) with lasting accessories.

In all, best and most quality materials of all seasons shall be adequately used without any reservation.

The project will cost about N22,000,000 (fifteen million Naira only). Any assistance from the parent Government (Lagos state Govt) will be highly appreciated by the entire members of PAPA AGURA CDA and that would go a long way in boosting the moral of every CDA member in Lagos state Thanks.
