PAPA AGURA COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION THE JOURNEY SO FAR

Before the inauguration of Papa Agura CDA, concerted efforts were then taken by residents of the community under the auspices of “Landlord Association” primarily to get electricity from transformer located at Agura town to Papa Agura. These electrification works were majorly carried out with substandard materials (wires and poles) haphazardly and unprofessionally connected to the national grid.
The executive members between 2007 to 2009 led by Mr. Frank Jibunoh and supported by members of the community, strategized on how to transform the association from mere “Landlord Association” to government recognized Community Development Association (CDA), which was actualized on 6th Day of November, 2009. This marks the beginning of a new dawn in the community as it seems to act as catalyst, boosting the morale of the executives to be more effective and magnifying the cooperation level of other members beyond expectation. Notable achievement of the CDA between 2009 and 2011
include:
-
Securing of 500KVA brand new transformer from Lagos State Ministry of Rural Development.
-
Construction of transformer plinth and security wire netting (transformer)
-
Major electrification project (1st and 2nd legs)
-
Welfare packages to bereaved members.
For effective administration, due to rapid growth of membership and the large expanse of land within the community, it became expedient to decentralize the activities of the central CDA and thus, effort were made to group the CDA into six (6) zones.
This was later reviewed to seven (7) Zones (A-G) and the graphical production was done by Arc. Adenola L. A.
Notable achievement of the CDA between 2011 and 2013 includes;
-
Recognition by the Lagos State Government through issuance of certificate of registration.
-
Purchase of CDA Secretariat land at the cost of N750,000
-
Electrification Project (3rd leg).
-

-
Welfare Packages.
-
Grading of Roads

At the inaugural meeting of the Executive members held on 9th November 2013, the programmes and activities to be executed by the CDA to December 2014 were carefully highlighted with dates, therefore, the astonishing achievement of the CDA within the last one year were not accidental but as a result of careful planning and diligent execution by the team of dedicated Executive members led by Pastor Taiwo A. Kayode.
