3.0 ACTIVITIES OF THE ADMINISTRATION
The following activities were held during the period under review.
3.1 MEETINGS
Four categories of meetings that were held by this administration are General meetings, Executive meetings, Stakeholders meetings and other Special meetings.
-
General meetings – A total number of twelve (12) general meetings (last Sunday of every Month) were held during the period under review with minimum, maximum and average attendance of 74,127 and 92 respectively. The general meeting held on 29TH of June, 2014 was graced by Alh. Lukman Sonibare (CDC Chairman, Ikorodu LG) and Hon. Azeez Olosugbo (House Leader, Ikorodu LG) while our August visitor at the meeting held on 28TH of September, 2014 was Engr. Bayo (The team leader Ijede IKEDC). Generally, attendance at the General meetings is gradually increasing but, not yet at its best and information dissemination has improved to this development.
-
Executive Meetings – The administration held a total number of twenty three (23) Executive meetings during which previous events were appraised and for coming events are planned.
-
Stakeholders’ Meetings – These includes; meeting of CDA Executives, HOD Agric and CDC Principal officers, meeting between Principal officers of the CDA and some indigenes to deliberate on security issues as well as modalities of financial commitment of members during construction project. Though inconclusive, efforts shall be taken God’s willing to seal this arrangement within the first quarter of next year. Another meeting was held on 21/10/2014 immediately after Lagos State Monitoring Team left Papa Agura Community.
General Purpose Committees Meetings – A total number of nine (9) General Purpose Committee meetings were held to handle seven (7) different cases, within the period under review ranging from fraudulent allegations, crises between hushand and wife, landlord and tenant, neighbours and members of the same business group. Infact, there was a particular case withdrawn by the CDA from the Ijede Police station and was amicably resolved. Undoubtedly, the activities of the general purpose committees have inculcated and improved love and peaceful co-existence among our members. However, out of the seven (7) cases, one is still pending and drastic step shall be taken on it soonest in order to ensure that justice prevails. Other committees such as security, finance, education, development, enforcement group and AGM planning committee (ad-hoc) held various meetings to ensure progress and development in the community.

3.3 PROJECTS
Projects executed are clearly enumerated under the achievements of the CDA between 2013 and 2014 in the article titled; PAPA AGURA CDA, THE JOURNEY SO FAR.
3.4 CDC MEETINGS AND PROGRAMMES
Constitutionally, the trio of chairman, Secretary and Treasurer of the CDA are members of the CDC. Meetings hold every last Wednesday of the month at Ikorodu Local Government and during the period under review, Papa Agura CDA has 100% attendance at the general meeting of the CDA, that is, no meeting held without at least the Chairman of the CDA been part of it. Also, the CDC programme tagged “One Day Seminar / Launching of CDC Environmental Monitoring Marshalls” held on Wednesday (25/06/2014) at Ikorodu Local Government was attended by 8 executive members of Papa Agura CDA.
Worthy of mentioning is that our own Pastor Taiwo A. Kayode, is the current Chairman of Finance Committee of CDC, Ikorodu LG.
3.5 CHELLENGES
Though the achievements of the CDA are great, being the best CDA in Ikorodu Local Government and 5th best in the whole of Lagos State, but could have been better if not for the under listed challenges;
-
Finance – Levies and dues are the main source of income to the CDA but unfortunately, some members believe they are “bigger” than these monies while some are paying but not as and when due. CDA Secretariat Building is at lintel level because substantial number of members have not paid. The security programme of the CDA is at the verge of death unless radical effort is taking towards collection of fees from members.
-
Laxity on the part of the members of the enforcement group(TASK FORCE).
-
Poor attendance of members at both Executive and general meetings. The average attendance of members at the general meetings is still less than 50%.
-
Zonal co-ordinators not yet offering their best towards the development of the community.
-
Optimum performance of Secretariat officers (Secretary and Assistant Secretary and functional secretariat.
3.6 ZONAL RECOMMENDATIONS
-
Enlightenment Programmes – Visitation of CDA executives to zonal meetings should be rotated among the zones with the main purpose of further enlightening and sensitizing members on the need for them to always attend meetings and pay their dues and levies regularly.
-
Zonal co-ordinators and members of various committees especially enforcement group should buckle up.
-
Establishment of an administrative secretariat and employment of an administrative secretary will not only make the running of secretariat easy but yield optimum secretarial performance.
3.7 CONCLUSION
With less than one year to the end of this administration, a lot can still be achieved provided we all resolved individually and collectively to contribute our best to the upliftment of our community.
Long live Nigeria,
Long live Lagos State,
Long Live Papa Agura CDA.
Adenola, Liaki A.
